Meet David Sabella
David Sabella is an acclaimed performer who first made his mark on Broadway by originating the role of Mary Sunshine in the 1996 revival of Chicago, sharing the stage with legends like Bebe Neuwirth, Ann Reinking, and Joel Grey. He has since become a vibrant force in New York’s cabaret scene, known for his hilarious operatic drag persona “Amanda Reckonwith,” which showcases his extraordinary vocal range and comic flair. Sabella’s performances have earned critical acclaim and multiple awards, including the 2022 MAC Award for Major Male Vocalist and the 2024 MAC Award for Best Impersonation/Drag Artist as Amanda Reckonwith, solidifying his status as a multi–award-winning singer and actor.
Beyond the spotlight, Sabella has built a sterling reputation as a voice teacher and performance coach. He is internationally recognized as a master teacher of musical theatre and contemporary voice, and served two terms as president of the New York Singing Teachers’ Association – a testament to his leadership in the field. Sabella’s teaching credentials span academia as well; he has taught on faculty at Fordham University’s Lincoln Center campus and New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, among other prestigious programs. As one of NYC’s most sought-after vocal coaches, Sabella works with singers across the globe through online lessons, blending technical mastery with passionate artistry to help each performer shine.
Sabella’s passion for nurturing talent led him to launch Bella Vox Performing Arts, a new nonprofit organization dedicated to performing arts production, education, and inspiration. As President and CEO of this 501(c)(3) foundation, he is expanding his reach internationally. Bella Vox produces and supports performances across North America and abroad, and is currently in residence at Act2PV Theater in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Through Bella Vox, Sabella strives to inspire the next generation of performers and broaden access to the arts – reflecting his lifelong commitment to empowering artists and building vibrant performing arts communities.
